The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. Applications are invited for a Research Fellow in the Department of Population Health (DPH) to join the Hararghe Health Research Partnership between Haramaya University and LSHTM. The post-holder will act as an analyst in a study on perinatal mortality and its risk factors in eastern Hararghe, Ethiopia.

- The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 scale in the range £45,728- £51,872 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is to be based in Ethiopia at Haramaya University.
Eligibility
- Candidates should have a postgraduate degree in demography, epidemiology or a related field and have strong quantitative or data science skills.
- Further, they are looking for candidates who have experience with health and demographic surveillance data collection and analysis in Ethiopia or a related setting.
- Proficiency in R, Stata and/or other data management and statistical computing packages is essential to this post.
Application
The post is part-time, 17.5 hours per week, 0.5 FTE and fixed-term until 31 August 2026 in the first instance, with the possibility of further extension. The post is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA, and is available immediately.
